Quick preview of my next NAMI article

For the third article I’m writing for the NAMI Iowa website, I’m highlighting the work of student organizations at different colleges around Iowa that advocate for mental health awareness.

The two main organizations I’m writing about are Active Minds and NAMI On Campus, which are two national organizations that have local chapters at colleges around the country.

The groups that I have reached out to have held activities on their campuses designed to educate their fellow students on issues such as mental illness and suicide. They have hosted guest speakers, held fundraisers and provided resources for their classmates about how to manage their mental health.

So far, the groups I am featuring are the Active Minds chapters at both the University of Iowa and the University of Northern Iowa. I’m also going to include information about Simpson College’s own Active Minds organization with information provided by our president, Rae Konz.

I’m still waiting to hear back from groups at a few other colleges, but I can’t wait for you all to read it once it’s published!
